Special Meeting of UNESCO-UNIVOC Asia Pacific Center Countries
As reported by Public Relations Office of SRTTU, special meeting of the centers of Asia Pacific member countries of UNIVOC was hosted by SRTTU on June 3 and 4, 2016 in the conference hall of the Presidential Office at SRTTU. The members of regional and national offices of UNESCO-UNIVOC countries attended the event with the aim of examining the opportunities of mutual cooperation among the parties.
At first, the president of SRTTU, Dr. H. Azemati, clarified the crucial role and capabilities of SRTTU in the field of TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) at the national level. He referred to the importance of the development of TVET worldwide as one of the solutions for developing countries to solve job creation problems and the potential and experience of IRI in this regard; and announced the willingness of SRTTU-as the only TVET University in Iran- to educate and train vocational teachers by having mutual relations/cooperation with other countries and to share experiences to hold long and short term courses.
Then Dr. Nasiri Gheidari, the president of UNESCO in Iran, highlighted the importance of TVET and appreciated SRTTU’s achievements and cooperation in this regard and announced UNESCO’s full support for these activities.
Then Ms. Laroosh, the president of UNESCO’s regional Office in Iran explained UNESCO’s activities and programs in Iran and the region and announced the support of her office for cooperation with SRTTU.
In continuation, each country member of Asia Pacific Region introduced themselves and explained what contributions their countries (Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan) can make to promote mutual cooperation on TVET.
At the end, some gifts were given to the members of the meeting by SRTTU. The representative of UNESCO-UNIVOC, Mr. Zobeir Shahid, awarded UNIVOC medal to SRTTU to realize SRTTU’s cooperation with UNESCO-UNIVOC till 2019.
